Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim scored his second career ODI ton saw Bangladesh to post a challenging total of 279 for 7 from their allotted 50 overs against India in the Asia Cup cricket being held on Wednesday at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ai Stadium in Fatullah.
Thanks to Mushfiq for his impressive career best ODI ton that at least set up a commanding total in front of India.
The Bangladeshi captain furnished his 117 runs magnificent innings hitting seven delightful boundaries and two towering over boundaries during 113 balls stay on the crease.
He took the responsibility of the team when Bangladesh faced early batting jolt losing their top orders Shamsur Rahman and Mominul Haque in 49 runs of the scoreboard, after Bangladesh were invited to bat first by India skipper Virat Kohli.
Then Mushfiqur Rahim taking with opener Anamul Haque added 133 runs for the third wicket stand to take the team to a strong position.
The right-handed batsman Anamul Haque gave a well support to his skipper Mushfiq scoring a polish 77 runs off 106 balls with the help of five boundaries and three over boundaries before he was clean bowled by pacer Varun Raymond Aaron.
Skipper Mushfiq was not in a mood to throw his wicket as he again paired another useful 49 runs partnership with all rounder Nayeem Islam (14) for the fourth wicket stand.
Then Mohammad Shami brought India in fight back in match taking two wickets — Nayeem Islam and then Nasir Hossain — in a quick succession.
Pacer Mohammad Shami was the most successful bowler for India taking four wickets for 50 runs.
