The main opposition party-BNP on Monday announced 15-day programmes between September 19 and October 3 to press home their one-point demand to resignation of the government, dissolution of parliament and to form a neutral government for holding the next polls in fair manner.
The programmes include rallies and road marches at different places across the country.
The party standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan announced the programme at a press conference at the party Chairperson’s Gulshan office in the capital on Monday.
“The agitation programmes announced as a part of the party’s simultaneous movement with other like-minded opposition political parties to drum-up our one-point demand to oust the illegal government and restore democracy through a inclusive election,” Nazrul Islam Khan said.
He said that rallies will be held on Tuesday (September 19) at Jinjira, Keraniganj and Gazipur’s Tongi.
Besides, Bhairab-Brahmanbaria-Habiganj-Moulvibazar-Sylhet road march will be held on September 21, he announced.
Seeking BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s early recovery prayers will be held at district, metropolitan areas, upazila, municipal areas and union levels across the country on September 22.
Two rallies – one at Uttara and the other at Jatrabari in Dhaka – will be held on the same day (September 22).
A road march will be held on Barishal-Jhalokhati-Pirojpur-Patuakhali route on September 23.
On September 25, two rallies will be held one at Naya Bazar in Dhaka city and the other at Amin Bazar on the outskirts of the capital.
On September 26, the BNP will organise road march in Khulna division and also arranged a convention of professionals in Dhaka.
Two rallies – one at Gabtali in Dhaka and the other at Fatulla in Narayanganj – will be held on September 27.
Besides, the party will organised women’s rally in Dhaka on September 29.
The party will organise a convention of labourers on September 30.
The BNP will organise Mymensingh-Kishoreganj road march on October 1.
The party will organise farmers’ rally in the capital on October 2.
On the concluding day on October 3, the party will organise a road march on Cumilla-Feni-Mirsarai-Chattogram route.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir spoke at the press conference echoing the party chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s worst health conditions.
BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Joint-Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon and Assistant Office Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu, among others, were present at the event.
