Dhallywood’s noted film director Sohanur Rahman Sohan died on Wednesday after suffering from a massive brain stroke.
The news of his death came just a day after his beloved wife passed away in her sleep.
The entire showbiz industry mourned the demise of the noted filmmaker.
They were hoping to pay their last respects to the director at BFDC.
However, his family preferred to take Sohan’s remains to Tangail so that they could lay him to rest next to his wife’s grave, which was his last wish.
On Thursday morning, Sohan’s body was taken to his in-laws’ house in Tangail where relatives and locals flocked to see him for the last time.
Director Sohan’s first janaza took place on Wednesday at 11:25pm in front of his residence in Uttara, and his second janaza was held on Thursday morning at Tangail Old Bus Stand Jame Masjid at 9:00am.
He was buried next to his wife’s grave in the Tangail Central graveyard at 10:00am.
Sohan was a renowned director in the 90’s, having started his career as an assistant director to Shibli Sadiq in 1977.
His first directorial film was named ‘Biswas Obiswas’ in 1988, but he truly broke new ground after making ‘Keyamot Theke Keyamot’ in 1993, starring Salman Shah and Moushumi.
Some of his notable works are: ‘Amar Desh Amar Prem’, ‘Swajan’, ‘Amar Ghor Amar Behesto’, ‘Anonto Bhalobasha’, ‘Swami Chhintai’, ‘Amar Jaan Amar Pran’, ‘Poran Joliya Jay Re’, ‘Koti Takar Prem’, ‘Se Amar Mon Kerechhe’ and ‘Lobh e Paap Paape Mrittyu’.
