They must not be allowed to hold stage-managed polls anymore,” BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas said while addressing a public rally held in front of Jinjira BNP office in Keraniganj.

“You (govt) still have time to dissolve parliament, resign after forming a caretaker government.

We want fair and participatory polls,” he said.

The rally is the first one of the party’s 15-day progamme it announced on Monday as part of their ongoing one point-movement demanding resignation of the government and holding the general election under a neutral government.

“AL is afraid of quitting power as they did huge misdeeds, I can assure you (AL) that we won’t harm you. We will not do anything (if you quit power),” Mirza Abbas said.

Urging the party men to get ready, Mirza Abbas said “It is not the time to sit idle at home.

People will give a befitting reply to Awami League through exercising their franchise in the next polls.”

The BNP senior leader said, “The people of the country are struggling amid price hike of essentials and oppression but in the next general election people will give a befitting reply to the illegal government through vote.”

Her physical condition is serious.

Tarique Rahman continues to struggle and organise even from exile.
