The eminent director died at United Hospital in city’s Gulshan area around 11:53 PM.
He left behind a son and a daughter, both of whom live in Canada.
He was quickly taken to the hospital as his health deteriorated suddenly at 10:00pm at his Dhanmondi residence where duty doctor declared him death.
Channel i’s managing director, Faridur Reza Sagor, confirmed his death.
Salahuddin Zaki was also known as a scriptwriter, actor, and author.
In 1980, he received the National Film Award for Best Screenplay for his first film, ‘Ghuddi.’
After that, he produced several films, including ‘Lal Benarasi’ and ‘Ayena Bibir Pala.’
In the late 1990s, he also served as the Chief Executive of Bangladesh Television.
